The official trailer for Claire’s upcoming film “A Kid Like Jake” (featuring Jim Parsons) have now been released! Check it out below.

A Brooklyn couple has always known that their four-year-old son is more interested in fairy tale princesses than toy cars. But when his preschool director points out that his gender-nonconforming play may be more than a phase, the couple is forced to rethink their roles as parents and spouses.

Claire’s most recent movie – A Kid Like Jake – is set to open the San Francisco Film Festival on April 4! The news comes from Variety.

Claire Danes’ family drama “A Kid Like Jake” will open the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 4.

The festival also announced that its closing night film will be Joaquin Phoenix’s “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot,” which will screen on April 17.

The 61-year-old festival, organized through the San Francisco Film Society, touts itself as the oldest movie fest in the U.S. The organization announced most of its lineup at a news conference on Wednesday.

“A Kid Like Jake,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, is directed by Silas Howard and written by Daniel Pearle, based on his 2013 play of the same name. The film also stars Jim Parsons, Octavia Spencer, and Priyanka Chopra. Danes and Parsons portray parents looking for the “right” New York primary school for their 4-year-old son who prefers Disney princesses to G.I. Joe. IFC bought domestic rights to “Jake” last month.

“Don’t Worry,” which also debuted at Sundance, is directed by Gus Van Sant and is based on late cartoonist John Callahan’s memoir of the same name. Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara, and Jack Black also star in the biopic. Amazon is opening the film on July 13.

The festival will also hold a tribute to filmmaker Wayne Wang, with a screening of “Smoke.” Wang’s credits include “Chan Is Missing,” “Maid in Manhattan,” “The Joy Luck Club,” “Anywhere but Here,” and “A Thousand Years of Good Prayers.” Other tributes unveiled Wednesday include Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (George Gund III Craft of Cinema Award), Annette Insdorf (Mel Novikoff Award), and Nathaniel Dorsky (Persistence of Vision Award).

The fest had already announced that its centerpiece film will be Boots Riley’s satire “Sorry to Bother You” on April 12. Charlize Theron will be honored at the event with a special tribute, followed by a screening of her new film “Tully” on April 8.

A couple of interviews with Claire at Sundance Film Festival have already been posted! These are by IndieWire and IMDb, and she is with the cast of A Kid Like Jake. Besides making sure we’re all aware of their altitude problem in Park City, the actors talked about what drew them to that project and how it differs from the movies and television shows we’ve seen them in recently.

Claire talked to Cindy Adams from Page Six about playing a therapist – and also going to therapy. Read it below.

I interviewed a bear. No real grizzly or Gobi. A human inside Stupid Brain Costume Shop’s fuzzy off-white suit. This polar species is in “Brigsby Bear” with real-life star Claire Danes.

Claire: “My part in the movie’s to encourage an innocent young man with imagination to accept reality. He’s created his own world. An imaginary role for himself with an attachment to this make-believe bear. I have no scenes with it, so you might say I’m anti-bear. I play the man’s therapist.”
What’s someone in pink stilettos and backless armless Prada know about playing a therapist?

“Oh, please. You kidding? Of course I know about therapy. I’m a New Yorker. Everybody’s in therapy. My best friends. My childhood chum’s a therapist. At birth, as I left the hospital I went into therapy.”

“I’ve been working steadily so now it’s time to be just a wife, a mom and an average person at home. Nice for awhile to even not be catered to excessively. My 4 ¹/₂-year-old’s grown up on sets. He’s even been on this set with me.”

Back to the bear and his (her?) handler: “Max time inside the suit’s two hours. Plus handling liquids before and after since you can’t pee or drink while in it. You can’t even release your arms for a snack. You can’t get that suit wet or dirty. Lunch needs the suit’s full removal.”

“On set, the bear guy was one same professional stuntman throughout. You can’t pinhole the costume’s eyes for vision because cameras and lights would pick that up. So inside he can’t see. Can’t hear. Handlers were with him at all times.”

“The outfit’s animatronic. Face movements, mesh mouth, eyebrows, lids react. Controlled animatronically. A Bluetooth headset and microphone’s inside, so the outside person talks to the bear person, who reacts in an exact replica of the action required.”

Some reporters get one-on-ones with gorgeous George Clooney or handsome Jon Hamm. My luck — I interview a friggin’ Kodiak inside a fuzzy Dr. Denton’s.
